JOYCE (JAMES) Ulysses, FIRST EDITION, ONE OF 750 COPIES ON HAND-MADE PAPER, being number 760 of an edition limited to 1,000 copies, untrimmed in publisher's light blue wrappers lettered in white, largely unopened, spine with title added in ink, neatly repaired at foot with short tear at foot of adjoining joint, and very slight wear at head, preserved in cloth chemise and morocco-backed slipcase with gilt panelled spine [Slocum & Cahoon A17], 4to, Paris, Shakespeare & Co., 1922 Footnotes: A VERY GOOD COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION, ONE OF 750 COPIES ON HAND-MADE PAPER. The overall edition consisted of 1,000 copies, 100 of which were signed by Joyce, with the remaining 150 printed on vélin d'arches paper. It is now thought that the 750 copies were the first to be printed (mostly beginning 9 February 1922), followed by the 100 signed copies (13 February onwards), and the 150 copies (4 March).
