Lloyd Sexton, Jr. (1912-1990) Koʻolau Mountains, Oʻahu signed 'L. Sexton' (lower left) oil on canvas 30 x 48 in. (76.2 x 121.9 cm) Footnotes: Provenance The artist. Frank Stone Loyd (1915-1992), Lynchburg, Virginia and Lāwaʻi, Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi, acquired from the above. J. Kenneth Taylor (d. 2008) and Pauline Elizabeth Guthrie Taylor (d. 2021), Lynchburg, Virginia, acquired from the above. Private collection, Arlington, Virginia, 2022, acquired from the above. Frank Stone Loyd was a dairyman and owner of over 1,000 acres at his Laurel Cliff Farm in Amherst County, Virginia. He was the grandson of Isaac Frank Stone, a chemist, industrialist, and president of the National Analine and Chemical Company, precursor to Allied Chemical, now Honeywell. Loyd and the Taylors were close friends and traveled to Hawaiʻi together.
