NORMAN TAUROG'S WORKING COPY OF THE SCRIPT FOR PRESENTING LILY MARS. CONNELL, RICHARD, and GLADYS LEHMAN. Mimeographed Manuscript, 'Presenting Lily Mars,' approx. 146 pp, 4to, Culver City, CA, June 11, 1942, with original yellow MGM covers featuring printed label to upper cover, signed by director Norman Taurog and heavily tabbed and annotated throughout by him, bound in full polished red calf lettered and decorated in gilt, upper cover detached but present, spine sun, some wear overall. Presenting Lily Mars (MGM 1943), directed by Norman Taurog, is often cited as Judy Garland's first 'adult' role, after a series of 'teen comedies' alongside co-star Mickey Rooney. The movie, produced by MGM's Freed unit, follows ambitious Lily Mars (Garland) who stalks a Broadway producer with connections to her hometown to make her way in the big city. Taurog has carefully tabbed his script at each significant change of scene or set, making it easy to move to whatever section is to be shot. He's added several dialogue changes and notes on the script and marks through a page horizontally when shot. Saleroom notices: Please see department for details Lot to be sold without reserve.
