Louis XVI Marble-top Mahogany Commode, Ferdinand Bury (1740-95; maître 1774), Paris, France, c. 1775. Large rectangular gray marble top with three-quarter-round corners overhanging conforming chest of drawers with ormolu-mounts attributed to Ravrio, the case containing three shallow drawers above two large drawers, divided by relief-molded posts and full dustboards, impressed mark 'F. BURY' on top of proper right column, 127cm wide, 60cm deep, 88cm high (50 3/4in wide, 24 3/4in deep, 35in high). Footnotes: Provenance The collection of Eric van Rooy.
