GAE AULENTI (1927-2012) FOR KNOLL INTERNATIONAL 'JUMBO' COFFEE TABLE, Italy, c. 1965, Carrara marble, unmarked, ht. 14, 44 1/2 x 44 1/2 in. Footnotes: Provenance: The collection of William J. Berkes. Berkes founded Deck House, the seminal modernist prefabricated home design and construction system. These beloved homes feature signature details such as mahogany-framed windows and floors and ceilings finished with tongue-and-groove cedar decking. According to the Massachusetts Historical Commission, roughly 10,000 Deck Homes were built around the world. Berkes studied under Walter Gropius at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
