1956 Velocette 349cc Viper project Registration no. 28 HPU Frame no. RS8741 Engine no. not applicable (see text) This Velocette project was originally a 1956 Viper. It is accompanied by a V5C which still shows engine no. VR1274, but it should be noted that the engine, transmission, wheels, and various other components have been removed and are not included in this lot. A dating letter from Grove Classics is also supplied, confirming that the Viper was originally supplied to Godfreys, who in turn supplied it to its first owner in Dagenham – and this tallies with the Essex registration number. The vendor tells us that the lot comprises: •'Frame no. RS8741 with swinging arm assembly and rear suspension units. •Complete forks with steering damper assembly, handlebars and clamps (no levers or controls), headlamp brackets and bare nacelle, Miller headlamp. •Petrol tank with cap and new taps and Flowliner ethanol resistant internal coating. •Dual seat, probably original, correct mounting lugs for age of frame. •Non-standard battery platform. •Rear brake pedal and return spring, rear brake rod, prop stand and head steady. •Rear number plate with original number plate and period rear light fitting. •Stainless steel front and rear mudguards with standard stays. •Also comes with a DIY 12 volt alternator conversion mounted on a modified dynamo body, modified front engine plates and mounting studs, shortened shock absorber spring to enable drive belt alignment.' No keys are supplied. Prospective bidders must satisfy themselves as to the condition, completeness, authenticity and compatibility of this lot's component parts prior to bidding. Sold strictly as viewed. Footnotes: All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
