c.1983 BMW K100 Racing Motorcycle Registration no. A474 MJN Frame no. 0003178 Engine no. 1041A 4584 0454 The vendor advises us that this BMW K100 was built by Nigel Hill of Saxon Racing for Jonathan Watson-Miller and has the unique pivoted-link front suspension that Saxon had first used on Phil Todd's Motodd Laverda racers. BMW would later go down the same route with its 'Telelever' front suspension system, although that differed considerably in detail. This machine was based on the Motod Laverdas using a standard 8-valve K100 as its basis: a K1 Paralever gearbox, swinging arm and running gear were added later. The frame, fuel tank, seat unit and fairing are by Saxon, as are the custom remote-reservoir front and rear shock absorbers. Other notable features include Brembo front brakes with floating discs and 4-pot callipers; BMW K1 wheels; Touratech IMO computer instruments; and BMW K1 handlebar controls. There is no V5C with this motorcycle but its registration is listed to the DVLA database; accordingly, prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves with regard to its registration status prior to bidding. The machine has been stored unused for over 20 years and will require restoration. Sold as seen, it is offered with an old V5 document and an expired MoT (1997-1998). Offered with key Footnotes: All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
