A group of Chamberlain Worcester teawares, circa 1800-10 Richly decorated in the 'Fine Old Japan' pattern no.240, with Imari panels including a pot of flowers and a fence, highlighted in gold, comprising: two plates, a slop bowl, sixteen saucers and ten teacups, nine of which have upswept handles and one with a ring handle; together with a Spode teacup of bute shape in the same pattern, plates 21.2cm diam, slop bowl 17cm diam, some pieces marked with pattern number '240', the plates marked 'Chamberlains Worcester' in red script (30) Footnotes: When Nelson visited Chamberlain's factory in August 1802 and ordered his extensive breakfast service, he chose pattern number 240, a particularly rich and expensive design. Subsequently, this was referred to as the 'Nelson' pattern. Nelson's own pieces of this pattern form the celebrated 'Horatia' service, which includes his own personal crests and insignia.
