Anwar Chitrakar (B.1980) Ramayana Series signed in 'Bengali' lower right natural pigment on paper 56 x 35,5cm (22 1/16 x 13 3/4in). Footnotes: Provenance Anrad Gallery, London. Exhibited Fitzrovia Gallery, In Praise of Identity, 26th June - 4th July 2024, London. Lots 27- 30 depict the battle to bring back Sita. Lakshman is wounded and Hanuman brings the Dronagiri mountain upon which the Sanjivani herb grows. Ravana and Ram jointly offer prayers to the Goddess and the final attempt to fell Ravana is successful when Vibhishan tells them the secret. Hanuman remains an inspiration to all devotees of the Lord by refusing to value anything where he can't see his Lord, who is forever in his heart.
