Glenlivet 80 Years Old Gordon & MacPhail Generations (1 700ml bottle) Speyside official bottling, scratches to bottom of bottle We are proud to offer the ultra-rare and ultra-aged Glenlivet Generations 80 Year Old bottled by Gordon & MacPhail. Distilled in 1940 this bottle transports one to another time and place when George Urquhart, or 'Mr. George,' a champion of single malts felt the spark of innovation and decided to lay a barrel down for extended ageing. The dark amber color marks its journey through eight decades in barrel. Glenlivet Distillery was first licensed to distill and sell whisky in 1824 just one year after the Excise Act of 1823 more than halved the duty on spirits. In a remote district of Speyside, George Smith lived his life half in the lore of the 'Smuggler's Era' and half in the emergence of the first whisky boom. The distillery would go on as a family run enterprise until 1978, and today boasts one of the widest portfolios in Scotland. Gordon & MacPhail founded in 1895 is one of the oldest family run independent bottlers in the world.
