Robert Whittington Obt. 31 March 1839, æ 70. Glazed compartment to reverse Length 2.8cm 2nd: Hairwork and paste plaque brooch Circular-cut paste in foiled, closed-back settings Glazed hairwork compartment Length 2.0cm 3rd: Garnet, seed pearl and hairwork brooch Circular-cut garnet in foiled, closed-back settings Seed pearls Glazed hairwork compartment Length 2.3cm 4th: Enamel and sardonyx stick pin Engraved sardonyx Black enamel ribbon Rose-cut diamond Lengths: plaque 2.0cm, pin 8.7cm Each mounted in gold or silver and gold Total weight approx. 21.5g (4) Footnotes: OVERALL CONDITION Surface wear to unhallmarked metal (testing as silver and 4-13ct gold) in the form of scuffs and scratches with some areas of discolouration, commensurate with age. Some enamel loss. The glazed compartments with some abrasion visible under 10x magnification. 1st with one diamond deficient. 2nd with some discolouration to hairwork eye visible under glazed compartment. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
