Twelve paintings from a dispersed album of watercolours depicting Sikh rulers, tradespeople and entertainers Punjab, probably Lahore, circa 1869-70 watercolours on paper watermarked T & F R 1869, margins ruled in yellow and black 190 x 230 mm.(12) Footnotes: For albums of similar paintings - almost all with a standard sixty - apparently often acquired by British servicemen and visitors to the Punjab, see the sales in these rooms, Bonhams, Islamic and Indian Art, 30th April 2019, lot 212; 26th October 2020, lot 268; 30th March 2021, lot 124; 25th October 2021, lot 334; 29th March 2022, lot 214A; and various other instances of single paintings or groups of paintings from dispersed albums. The subjects of the paintings are as follows: 1. Maharajah Gulab Singh. 2. Maharajah Sher Singh. 3. Chattar Singh Atariwala. 4. A fakir with a hookah and a dervish with a crutch and begging bowl. 5. Two mendicants with their dogs. 6. A nautch girl and three musicians. 7. An entertainer with two monkeys and a goat. 8. A female acrobat and a musician. 9. Two men butchering a goat. 10. Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
