Mangelsen and Dr. Jane Goodall. Unframed, with a 3' white border (Artist Proof Collection: 32/139) Footnotes: Bears do not stand as an intimidation tactic, they do so to improve their senses. Standing allows them to see over obstructions and smell the scents above the surrounding vegetation. With four cubs to care for, Grizzly 399 is quick to investigate anything out of the ordinary. These precious cubs have grown quickly in the two weeks since emerging from the den. It's a testament to 399's experience and wisdom that these cubs are still safe and learning the ways of a grizzly in a world so heavily influenced by people.
