A Kashan lustre pottery ewer Persia, 12th/ 13th Century the body of cylindrical gadrooned form with flat shoulder on a slightly flaring foot, the waisted neck with trough spout, the strap handle surmounted by a thumb knop, decorated in a golden-brown lustre on a white ground with inscriptions to the body, shoulder and base of neck, the spout, sides of neck and handle with vegetal motifs, a splash of turquoise glaze to one side of neck, accompanying Japanese wood storage box 24.9 cm. high(2) Footnotes: Inscriptions: around the neck, al-'izz .... al-sa'adah al-salamah wa al-kiramah, 'Glory ...
